Featured Article – Let Go and Let God by This is quite a popular phrase said by many Christians today. I’ve used it quite a lot myself. It’s used to mean surrendering our lives totally to God and letting Him shape them. It’s used when we’re faced with difficult situations that we just can’t handle on our own. We’re supposed to give our troubles to God for He can handle everything. Didn’t He make the heavens and the earth (Gen 1). But how easy is it to really Let Go and Let God? Sometimes it depends on the situation. Why can’t we let go sometimes. After all if we didn’t need God’s help, we wouldn’t have any problems in the first place. Recently, I was dealing with a situation that was quite troubling to me. I knew that I could give it over to God and he would take care of it. I knew it because God has never failed me in the past and never will. Although I prayed for God’s help, I kept clinging on to the thoughts of the situation. The thoughts were eating away at me. They were preventing me from getting on with other more important things. Did I show a lack of faith in God? Did I not trust Him enough? God has certainly earned our trust by all the miracles He’s performed and by all the promises in His word. But why couldn’t I completely surrender? Sometimes we give it over to God then try to tell him how to fix the problem, like we know better than He does. Or we get impatient because the resolution doesn’t happen as quickly as we think it should. So although we claim to have Let Go, we haven’t. We worry, we pray over and over just in case God didn’t hear us the previous times. We bargain with God. We keep thinking about the problem. This type of behaviour only steals our joy and disturbs our peace. It really does prevent us from being the best we can be. This is not what God wants for us. Yes, God came through once again as I knew he would. God is so faithful and yet I had such little faith. It can be no other reason. I can never gain the lost time back that was spent worrying. And neither can you. Don’t waste your precious time worrying about the outcome of a situation that you’ve Let Go and given to God. Find a deterrent, go out and have some fun, read a good book, focus of happier times. I pray that God will help all of us to trust Him more and to strengthen our confidence in Him. Ps 56:3 But when I am afraid, I will put my confidence in you. Yes, I will trust the promises of God. Remember if God says he can handle it he really can, so Let Go and Let God. ================================================================= Inspiration, Motivation, and Gratitude, a resource to help you find your true purpose in life. http://www.xlibris.com/hoursofpuregold.html |
