Featured Article – Red Tape – You can take control! I’m writing this today not only for you my valued readers but for myself as well. We all need a boost sometimes or a reminder why we are just not getting things done or achieving our dreams. Red Tape, what it is? I like to think of red tape as barriers or road blocks that prevent us from getting the job done, making decisions, getting approval for something and so on. On the job, there’s plenty of red tape. Let’s take getting something simple like a headset for the phone. You have to fill out a form to justify why you need it. Then you have to email it to your boss for approval. The boss then has to check the budget and get further approval from the bigger boss. The bigger boss doesn’t see this request as a priority and sits on it for weeks. You try to follow-up with his secretary and she tells you to send her an email. And the saga goes on and on. You finally get so frustrated and give up or go out and buy one yourself. The red tape could strangle you. We take this learned behavior and repeat it with our children when they want something. Mom has to ask dad and visa versa, they have to think about it for a day or two depending on how important they think it is. The child begins to beg and whine about what they want. They do not take no easily. But what about decisions and matters that are under our own control. How much red tape do we create for ourselves. Sometimes, we just have a simple task to complete but we make all the excuses in the world why we do not have enough time to complete it. Or we put it off until tomorrow. Tomorrow turns to next week or next month or never. We can’t blame the boss now as we are the boss, we can only blame ourselves. How many times have you dreamed of doing something. You’ve created wonderful thoughts in your mind of how the experience will be. Then in the next breath, you count yourself out as being unworthy or unable to fulfill such a dream. We all do it, we cut ourselves short, we create our own barriers. Once again we are the CEO of our lives and we have to take full responsibility. I truly believe in the laws of attraction. We can do, be or have anything we want. The universe was created in this way by God and God is abundance. There’s enough to go around for everyone. We sometimes have a fear of taking the first step, but once we take it the big monster shrinks smaller and smaller. How many times have we looked at a friend or colleague and said how lucky they are for all their achievements and success. I bet luck had nothing to do with their success at all. We are all capable of reaching that pinnacle, that moment when we can stand tall and be proud of our accomplishments. We can control the red tape. One way that helps me to stay on track is journaling. I write down the goal and the steps I need to take to achieve it. Whenever I work on the goal I write notes which includes the date. It helps me stay accountable to myself. No guessing games, everything is in black and white. And as the CEO of the plan I can see clearly where the red tape that I created is interfering in completing the goal. I then have the power to make changes, to get rid of the red tape. You can take control and get rid of the red tape that you create. It’s never too late to get started or pick up where you left off. May God in his mighty power strengthen you, assist you and enable you to fulfill your dreams and goals. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Inspiration, Motivation, and Gratitude, a resource to help you find your true purpose in life. http://www.xlibris.com/hoursofpuregold.html |
